Kinetisense 3D motion test ยท St. Louis

The Kinetisense test turns how you move into numbers, so progress is measured instead of guessed.

Kinetisense is a 3D camera test of how you bend, turn, reach and balance, and nothing is stuck to your body. At painstl.com it measures movement before and after treatment.

Measura Kinetisense assessment

This test happens only on a physician’s order. It runs only while a physician is on site and immediately available.

How does the test work?

You follow simple prompts while a depth camera captures how you move. The software measures joint angles and balance.

Why would your physician order it?

“It hurts less” is useful, but it is not data. Kinetisense measures how far you can bend, rotate and reach and how steady you stand, before treatment and after. When a procedure such as radiofrequency ablation works, the numbers should show it in how you move, not only in how you rate your pain.

What will you feel?

On cue, you bend, rotate or balance on one leg in view of the camera, and nobody touches you.

Getting ready for test day

Choose snug clothing that stretches.

Tell us before the test about

  • If standing unsupported is unsafe for you, we modify the test.

How much time to plan for

Plan on about 15 to 20 minutes each time.

What to remember

  1. It converts movement into numbers.
  2. Dress in clothes that fit close and stretch.
  3. A repeat test shows how far you have come.

Last step. Show us you have it: Explain to your technician which movements felt hardest. Unsure about any step? We run through it with you again next time.
