Cognivue memory and thinking test ยท St. Louis

The Cognivue test puts numbers on memory and focus changes that a scan will not show.

Cognivue scores memory, attention and reaction time on a computer, in about 10 minutes, at painstl.com. It measures thinking changes after a head injury, so they can be tracked over time.

Measura Cognivue assessment

This test happens only on a physician’s order. It runs only while a physician is on site and immediately available.

How does the test work?

Seated at a monitor, you react to a series of simple visual tasks. The program scores memory, attention, processing speed and reaction time.

Why would your physician order it?

After a car accident or a fall, memory and concentration can slip even when a CT scan is clear. Chronic pain, poor sleep and some pain medicines can also dull thinking. Cognivue gives a baseline and shows whether things improve as the pain and the sleep get treated. See care after a car accident.

What will you feel?

Much like an easy video game. Nothing touches you, and there is no wrong way to feel during it.

Getting ready for test day

Pack your reading glasses and try to get a full night of sleep.

Tell us before the test about

  • Trouble seeing a screen without glasses
  • Difficulty handling a mouse

How much time to plan for

Plan on about 10 minutes each time.

What to remember

  1. Scores cover memory, attention and speed.
  2. Reading glasses come with you.
  3. Retesting tracks the trend.

Last step. Show us you have it: Let your technician know if the screen or the mouse gave you any trouble. Unsure about any step? We run through it with you again next time.
